Description
The Ketchikan Collection is a series of beaded lace patterns that highlight the rugged beauty of Ketchikan, Alaska using the unique qualities of Wonderland’s Unicorn yarn. Buy patterns individually or as a pattern book.
Surrounded by mountains, Herring Cove is a magnet for all manner of wildlife. Eagles keep watch, rain or shine, for the return of salmon to its waters; black bear wade in search of food; Blue Heron and Belted Kingfisher frequent its shores. During high tide, harbor seals smash about, and, during low tide, the water flows around rocky mounds.
The Herring Cove rectangular wrap features a center panel of “rocks” surrounded on both sides by a bead-accented water “flow” that bubbles along the cast-on and bind-off. The whole scene is bordered by “mountains” along the outer edges.
Several Shetland lace motifs make up the body of the shawl. Some will have lace shaping knit on the front and back. The mirrored outer border will increase and decrease to create the “mountains.” Beads will be placed on increase and decrease stitches in the two middle motifs.
